This was really skillful!!! I mad a few changes though. Instead of the Soy Sauce, I used i/2 cup of Yoshida's Original and so didn't have to apply the corn starch, information technology'due south already thicker. Let it marinade for about an hour, and used mixed oriental veggies. My hubby and I love spicy merely the kids like it just "tasty", this was skilful! We added more chili peppers and it was great for u.s.! (Of course we also added more than garlic, dearest that too!) We had it over rice, good quick meal!
xi/10/2000
Easy and adept, though not quite spicy enough for my taste. I increased the red pepper and garlic, and added grated fresh ginger. Instead of using vegetable oil, try using sesame oil instead. My family really liked this dish and requested I make it once more.
09/25/2006
Very nice recipe. If you wish for sauce to be thicker, Add one full cup of goop to mix, bleed off and add corn starch to thicken. Re innovate to sauce pan before serving.
02/xv/2005
I read the reviews and added extra season (more soy, garlic, hot pepper flakes), and the taste was nevertheless just average. Yes, information technology'due south a quick dish to prepare, but I'll stick with Sesame Beef or Crawly Korean Steak when I'yard craving beefiness stir-fry.
09/17/2004
I didn't accept the water chestnuts, peanuts or broccoli, so I simply used some carrots. I used beef base since I didn't accept chicken base. Even without many of the ingredients, this was still very skillful. It wasn't that spicy and I even used some crushed dried Thai peppers (which are extremely hot) from our garden. After cooking the meat and tasting it (before adding the veggies) I added more dried peppers. That gave information technology some kick. I'd like to try it sometime with all the correct ingredients.
03/06/2001
my family loved this and it was a fast, easy meal. I bought the meat already in strips and substituted mushrooms for the water chestnuts. I also put another 1/iv c. of chicken goop in. But the flavor of the sauce was great.
05/08/2005
Love this recipe! It is one of the best beefiness stir-fry recipes I have encounter! Of course I add my own medley of veggies and add extra hot pepper and a bit of sesame oil.
01/30/2002
I used shrimp instead of the beefiness. It was very good.
06/23/2009
There is nothing Szechuan about this beef. This was more like very bland broccoli beefiness. 1 TBS of soy to marinade ane lb. of beefiness!? REALLY?? After following recipe, i ended up having to add together alot more soy and a bit of dark-brown saccharide to make information technology to my liking. This is 1 of my lowest ratings yet. Sad but just mode to bland if made as written.
01/thirteen/2006
i fabricated it spicier, with cayenne pepper and frank'southward red hot, simply it was neat!
11/x/2008
It needs chili paste, peppercorns, and some hot, habanero peppers and a lot of scallions. The majority found this as well banal and I take to hold.
12/04/2011
Bland - even though i added ginger and increased scarlet peppers - and almost no sauce.
11/16/2008
mmmmm this was really really proficient, i followed the recipe exactly except i used cherry pepper flakes equally i didnt have whatever crushed red pepper on hand and i did 1/two tsp of that instead of 1/4, used but one onion and cashews instead of peanuts. next time i will up the pepper to 3/4 tsp and run into if that spices information technology up a lil chip more.. had a little kick to it but not much. but was definitely very flavorful and really proficient. i served it over steamed rice. will be making this again for sure
03/xvi/2014
Followed the recipe and ended upwards with a terribly banal meal.
12/11/2008
This was my first hazard to utilize the new quality wok I got for my altogether. I marinated the beef overnight to get in real tender, did not apply peanuts, but added snow peas, actress broccoli, infant corn and carrots. Family unit likes everything spicy so I added some hot sauce and a picayune garlic. One time more I recieved praise for an "allrecipe" dish.
12/05/2009
This wasnt bad but not great. It could be better with a few changes. The only thing I inverse this time was I subbed baby corn for the water chesnuts b/c we dont like them. Next time I may add together a sliced dark-green pepper and some extra soy sauce.
07/29/2009
We similar this 1 a lot. Thank you
07/06/2008
This recipe is besides blah! Increase the soy sauce and red peppers improved the taste. I won't be making it once more. Connie
04/fifteen/2009
Had no flavor.
07/09/2014
I read through the reviews and noticed about people left negative ones, which is usually when I look for the adjacent recipe. For some reason I tried this one anyway, following a lilliputian bit of the communication given. I added a little extra red peppers, soy, garlic pulverization rather than cloves (all out), added cayenne and some Chinese five spice pulverization. Stir fried the beef in sesame oil, so aaded ane small onion and the broccoli and green bell pepper. Turned out amazing. Kind of mellow flavor when you first take a bite, but by the time you swallow you can taste the spice and the subtle heat. The veggies were succulent, and my kids asked that I add together this to rotation.
11/thirteen/2008
My whole family loved this recipe. I doubled the sauce like others recommended. The only matter I did differently was marinate the meat for several hours with extra garlic. I thought information technology was very tasty, and I don't know what the other people were thinking when they said it was blah tasting!! Definate do over several times!!!!
08/xviii/2000
Excellent!
x/09/2011
pretty good - as is, there is not plenty sauce. I also tossed information technology with noodles....Next time, with more than sauce, information technology will be perfect!
12/06/2009
It seemed to be missing something. I did add a dash of ground ginger to the beef while it was marinading and I had to add more than hot pepper and soy. Sorry merely I will probably not brand this again.
11/20/2014
This is a great starter recipe! I did apply more soy sauce, garlic, cornstarch, and chicken broth. I used peanut oil & sesame oil to stirfry the beefiness with footing ginger sprinkled on the beef and veggies. It was fantastic, only I did add my own touch of seasonings as well. The kids demolished it, and then it'due south a keeper!! :)
02/06/2010
Quick, piece of cake calendar week nighttime dinner. My family liked it, and I will definitely make information technology once more.
06/29/2010
I didn't follow the recipe exactly because everyone said information technology was a little bland. I increased the crushed ruddy pepper and garlic by ane 1 teaspoon and 2 cloves. I had issues with the beef strips not getting cooked in the alotted time. For some reason, that just didn't piece of work for me even though I marinated information technology for 3 hours instead of the recommended 20 min.
01/24/2012
This was so like shooting fish in a barrel to set and delicious. I wish it were spicier but I estimate it was fine since my kids ate information technology and asked for seconds! Oh, and I besides added thinly sliced carrots for color.
08/06/2004
My family thought this was very adept. The only changes I made were to add some shredded cabbage, some tamari, and a little sugar and I did add more than red pepper than called for. I discover most stir fry recipes too banal. Thank you Christine for finally giving me an like shooting fish in a barrel and tasty stir fry recipe!
05/17/2002
I marinated the beef for vi hours, added extra blood-red pepper and left out the peanuts considering of allergies in my daughter. Pretty good recipe, quick and piece of cake.
06/14/2011
We just got done with dinner and I was SO unhappy I have to write this review. I followed the recipe, but added probably one tsp of hot pepper, based on other reviewers. I was and so looking forwards to a zippy tasty dinner, this wasn't it. It was very unfavorable. It wasn't spicy at all. Too bad...
04/xi/2011
Piece of cake ANd Excellent! I recommend using more than broth and cooking Jazmine Rice with it.
01/17/2015
It gave me a skilful start for experimentation. I used just a touch over 1 lb of meat and in the quantities to a higher place, it here wasn't enough to cover it all. I also removed the meat, broccoli, etc and thickened the juice with more corn starch. Served with fried rice. Hubby liked information technology.
01/04/2009
I made this for the family, they all loved it andhave requested it again. I was suprised how easy it was to make a very authentic dish. The marinade really gets into the meat. I used Sirloin steak, approx. 4oz per person and so it makes an very economical, great quality repast for 4 from 2 Sirloins. Thanks.
01/sixteen/2016
This is my new favorite recipe! I did make some changes, though. Some of the changes were to lower the carb count and some were to add extra flavor based on previous reviews. I used 1/four cup soy sauce, 3 tsp minced garlic, vi green onions in place of regular onions and 1 tsp crushed cherry pepper. I also added some onion powder and garlic powder (I just sprinkled them on). I used xanthan gum to thicken in place of the corn starch and added it at the terminate instead of the beginning. I didn't use the water chestnuts or the peanuts. Adjacent time I make it I will also add bean sprouts.
04/29/2009
I actually hate giving bad reviews because someone out in that location idea information technology is a wonderful recipe and wanted to share it with the world. Merely this recipe is very very banal. I ended upward adding bottled stir fry sauce to try and save it. Thanx for the recipe but I approximate this dish merely isn't for me.
01/01/2012
One of my favs in the recipe box. Thanks for sharing. Honey it.
08/22/2001
Good but a lilliputian banal. Needs a lot of spices and some additional vegetables (cabage, carrots, etc) to friction match restaurant-fashion Szechuan. A good start though.
02/19/2015
Made this recipe with only the ingredients I had in the house... So no broccoli and instead of water chestnuts I added walnuts. This was succulent! I served over rice.
07/13/2016
Not spicy at all and little flavour, I propose doubling the seasoning. The beefiness was overcooked when cooked this way. I recommend cooking the beefiness, putting information technology aside, cook the broccoli and onion, then add the beef back in.
01/25/2008
I had to add a little more crushed red pepper. This was very like shooting fish in a barrel and good.
12/29/2011
Very happy with this recipe. Nosotros added carrotts and extra spice. Will make again very soon. Easy dish to brand afterward working all mean solar day.
02/23/2016
I doubled up the chicken stock (which probably would've been meliorate with beef) and added a lot actress soy sauce (used coconut aminos) it even so needed maybe teriyaki sauce or oyster sauce or something. Not my fave.
04/17/2012
It was ok. I like it ameliorate with craven.
01/11/2013
I used ground beefiness instead of sirloin steak. It was good, but a little flavorless. Mayhap more soy sauce?
ten/06/2014
Very good recipe and easy too
xi/11/2008
This was very proficient and elementary, with picayune calories. I spiced it up a fleck more with some korean hot sauce. We enjoyed it!
09/02/2009
I followed this exactly and after cooking the beef in the wok I tasted it. I thought it was besides bland! So I added some chinese marinade that a friend had given us from china and information technology made it tasty. This recipe alone deserves 2 stars for it's lack of flavor. I highly recommend adding more than to the meat/dish before serving.
06/28/2003
My family unit loved it. Thank you a agglomeration
01/28/2014
This was very easy and very enjoyable. Wouldn't modify a thing except brand double side by side time.
02/08/2015
very skilful, would omit the peanuts and add together bamboo shoots. family loved it
05/nineteen/2008
We doubled the sauce and added veggies. Fantastic. Nosotros will eat this often. Beats have-out easily down!!!
11/21/2008
Fast, easy, and tastes great!
02/25/2009
I loved this, married man just said "good". I think it'south restaurant quality. The only think I'd alter is to add together a piddling cornstarch at the time y'all add together the broth, to thicken is slightly. Love it.
12/04/2012
Tried this i final night, and it was the commencement recipe that I didn't fall in love with the get-go time out. Information technology actually felt like information technology was missing something, although I have not yet decided what. And it wasn't as spicy as I expected it to be - although that may just be because I am a native New Mexican and used to spicy nutrient. I am gonna rate this a 3-Star (just for now) until I can figure out what it needs to amend information technology. Still, it wasn't a total bust because I think it has a cracking foundation to be something wonderful!
03/11/2013
Outstanding! Just like what I go at the neighborhood Chinese eatery. Information technology was very succulent. I need to make a bigger batch next fourth dimension!
01/02/2009
Delicious! I doubled the garlic and added two chopped stalks of celery. Yummy and easy weeknight dinner. Also marinated the beef for about four hours.
06/01/2005
I only gave this three stars for now as I thought information technology was quite banal and not very 'szechuan-like'. I didn't find it fifty-fifty remotely spicy merely I will try this over again and see if maybe I can get better luck the second time around. It wasn't bad or anything, but bland.
06/01/2014
Excellent recipe. My family unit enjoys this every time. I did omit the peanuts, crushed red pepper, and chestnuts. Delicious! One of the easiest recipes I have ever tried.
12/11/2008
This recipe was a hit with my family unit and I programme on making it over again soon.
01/08/2017
Sorry merely I couldn't give it a good review. There was absolutely no sauce, it didn't await anything like the picture, not colourful and saucy. I added ginger and brownish sugar because the taste was pretty bland.
03/07/2006
Not too spicey, in fact a adept moderate level of "spiceiness".It seemed bland and lacked flavor. It wasn't bad, just okay. Side by side time I would try to "punch" up the flavour. It besides needed more sauce.
01/13/2018
Needed some more spice to telephone call it a spicy dish. Could use a bit of sauce as well
08/16/2018
Husband loved that I made this. Volition accept to brand again and again for sure. Needs a little more spice for the states . Just added a teaspoon of chili paste.
11/thirty/2016
Could have a chip more sauce more red pepper
11/xxx/2009
This is chinese delicious! I used a purse of walmart make broccoli stir-fry veggies which has broccoli, califlower, water chestnuts, mushrooms, sugar snap peas, corn, etc. I didn't accept whatever onions, so I added onion powder. I also added some sesame oil for a more distinct flavour. A dash of franks crimson hot, and viola! The perfect repast. Served it over white rice and dinner was a hit.
10/14/2004
I thought this was a little bland and it didn't have that Szechuan await or taste that y'all get from a restaurant. On the positive side, information technology was a good, quick dish and I'll probably make it again, with more seasonings.
02/17/2009
My hubby makes this as the recipe states and we love it! We brand information technology almost in one case a calendar week. Nosotros serve information technology over authentic Chinese rice and it couldn't be amend.
05/30/2004
I idea it was great. I will accept to tone it downwards a chip adjacent time though, my family thought it was too spicy. The pepper in it didnt bother me but I can tolerate haberneros too and so......... :) Very squeamish recipe. Thanks
07/17/2006
good, but not spectacular. the seasoning is a fiddling weak for the ammount of ingredients.
12/04/2008
This was ok. I idea information technology was kind of bland. I will add more ruddy pepper flakes next fourth dimension. I omited the peanuts and added some toasted sesame seeds instead.
eleven/20/2008
Very proficient, simply definitely needs more seasoning. I doubled the sauce and added caribbean hot sauce (homemade) to kick upwards the spice. The sirloin worked fine, simply I program to employ a softer beef such as a roast side by side time.
02/12/2021
This was really bland.
10/12/2016
easy great tasting recipe
05/28/2015
It was so like shooting fish in a barrel to brand, I had left over steak, my boys loved it! Keeper!!! And thank you for sharing!
11/10/2008
My family and I love this recipe! For a Texas twist, add fresh sliced jalapeno.
09/12/2012
Run across notes. One hot chili added.
02/02/2017
I was very disappointed by this. It was mediocre at best. You need more soy sauce.
01/06/2004
Information technology came out a piffling bland, but was quick and like shooting fish in a barrel.
09/28/2016
I fabricated minor changes to this recipe: I boiled the broccoli get-go then added information technology to the wok later the beef was cooked (that way, the broccoli was soft). I cooked this for my family and they loved it!
02/13/2016
Double the sauce! Otherwise, very plain. Consider splitting into ii pans, otherwise doesn't cook evenly, because information technology makes a lot.
04/27/2019
Bland - yous need to add more than spice. If you can discover szechuan sauce - it would probably taste meliorate.
05/03/2017
So bland.
11/21/2008
I thought it was ok and my husband HATED information technology. Will not brand again.
04/26/2017
To us information technology did not take enough flavor or spice.
05/sixteen/2018
Thank goodness for reviews. Without them, I would give this recipe a 2. I made a ton of changes. Added 3 gloves of garlic , 1 tablespoon of hot pepper flakes and one tablespoon cornstarch to beef. Let marinade for 3 hours. Fried beefiness in sesame oil. Omitted broccoli from vegetable mixture and added sliced carrots, snow peas and baby corn. Besides added 1 tablespoon cornstarch to thicken sauce. Served over white rice with Chinese noodles as topper and peanut soup on the side. Not too bad.
08/17/2016
Needed extra of all the spices plus a trivial white carbohydrate. Also thickened up with extra cornstarch. Served over dark-brown rice.
08/28/2021
NOT great szechuan. The quarter teaspoon red peppers does not add much heat. Recommend serving with some Chinese chili garlic paste. Also add bong peppers. But at this point it becomes a different recipe
08/06/2018
I'd recommend using chuck steak instead of sirloin. It tastes the same and it's a cheaper cut.
x/25/2019
Volition definitely make this again. Family loved information technology
11/xx/2006
This recipe is ok for a quick dinner. I think it needs a fiddling more than flavor and sauce for my families taste.
08/ten/2016
Um, yeah. A traditional homemade dish for anyone who knows how to cook.
10/20/2001
my family enjoyed this dish, merely i didn't think it was nearly spicy plenty, and didn't have the color that information technology'd expect from szechuan beefiness.
11/11/2008
i thought this was skillful. i did add more garlic, red pepper and soy.
01/09/2006
Acceptionally tasty, just non all that spicy.
02/04/2018
This is practiced, non fabulous. So many reviewers mentioned blandness, then I was heavy handed with the pepper flakes, which was good. I used sesame oil instead of vegetable oil. My husband had seconds, so it certainly was not a bad dish.
08/10/2001
Very easy to make just I also found it bland.
07/08/2005
this was very banal. needed more than spices and something sweet, besides. volition non make this over again
08/28/2016
It's not spicy. The measurements are non accurate and it was very bland, so given what the recipe calls for, I cannot requite this a expert rating. I might try it once more using different ingredients, only so it wouldn't exist this recipe at that point.
