How to See Which Files Are Being Uploaded
HI Paul, click the link below to download a small free utility that does not demand installing - TCPIPView.
WIth that you can monitor exactly what is using your WiFi connection and from at that place you might be able to work out what is being downloaded to your HDD

One identify to look is windows updates.
Become to Settings > Windows Update > Update history. Confirm if any updates were installed on that date.
On the WIndows update page click on Avant-garde Options and then Cull how updates are delivered.
On the "Chose how updates are delivered" page if the start pick is turned on, the MS is using your computer equally a "mule" to deliver updates to other people. That would account for network use.
Besides check in the Recycle bin, if someone was using your organization and they were sloppy, there could be deleted files at that place ("sloppy" because there is an option to delete files without putting them in the recycle bin).

Give thanks You for the quick reply.
If install the TCPIPView utility, will I exist able to view what was downloaded on 11/16/2017 during a specific time period? Something downloaded that used 15 GB, withal, I cannot find information technology. I do know that it occurred on eleven/16/2017 between 5:30 PM and 6:30 PM.
Is the TCPIPView utility prophylactic to download?

I went to the Windows Update History, there were no updates for 11/16/2017.
I do non see the "Avant-garde Options" on the Windows Update History folio. Is at that place another method to get to the Advanced Options?
Is there a method to view what was downloaded on 11/16/2017 during a specific time period? Something downloaded that used 15 GB, yet, I cannot find it. I exercise know that information technology occurred on 11/16/2017 between 5:30 PM and 6:thirty PM.

Hullo, Paul, TCPIPView is safe, I would not put you wrong . . .
Actually TCPIPView is more for monitoring your network activity should this sort of matter happen again . . .
Equally for what was downloaded on 11/sixteen/2017 between 5:30 PM and 6:xxx PM
There are 2 possible ways to find that out:
1.
Open Windows File Explorer and double click on your C Drive in 'This PC'
Click in the Search Box
The Search Ribbon should go active
Click Date Modified drop down and cull Today
Then click the bluish text in the search box, a calendar will appear
Select the 16th and give it fourth dimension to search - information technology can be a while
In the resulting search, you should exist able to encounter what downloaded . . .
2.
Click your Start Push button, type Event Viewer and striking Enter
This will open the Upshot Viewer app
On the left, click the pointer beside Windows logs to expand information technology
For each log, click it and curlicue down through the events to find that engagement and time
This might requite y'all some clue as to what happened at that fourth dimension and what was downloaded . . .

I volition try both methods and go back to you lot with my results. I will besides try the TCPIPView utility. Is the utility TCPView or TCPIPView? Sorry for all the questions, I run into TCPView has keen reviews.
I cannot limited my concern, as I had my identity stolen four times and acquired enormous problems.

Hi Paul, sorry a typo on my part, it is chosen TCPView.
I apply information technology a lot, it is safe to use, I would not endanger yous in any way.
I am only here to help and would not suggest on downloading anything I have not already checked out myself . . .

Sorry, misdirected you. the Advanced Options is on the "Update Status" folio
Pitiful, I do not know of any style of identifying what was up or downloaded during a specific time. There are many utilities that can monitor you net use. The problem is that nearly of them focus on full volume and speed. Very few provide any ID for the file or program that is doing the upwards/down loading.
http://www.cucusoft.com/netguard.aspx#CheckHist... is one exception I plant in a QUICK search. It at least identifies the programme doing the traffic.
You will have to do your own search to find a ameliorate suited application to identify Future traffic.

Hi Dave,
I used the result viewer to view my PC activity for 11/xvi/2017 between v:00 PM and 6:30 PM. I run into several alarm messages and error messages. It appears something was trying to download and install some apps or security files, I'yard not sure.
Could I electronic mail you a couple of screen shots of the event viewer and get your feedback? I actually do not understand what was occurring on 11/16/2017, merely it did last for almost 2 hours and looks a scrap suspicious to me. I do not see a fashion to attach screen shots on this community web site, perhaps I tin can reply dorsum with the text?

How-do-you-do Paul, sorry i had to get some sleep . . .
Can yous practise one thing for me:
Click your Start Button, type winver and hit Enter
In the resulting dialog, take a note of what version No. of Windows 10 you are running (1709, 1703, 1607 . . . etc.)
Due to the corporeality of data that has been downloaded, I am guess information technology was the Fall Creators Update that was downloading. If you are non running 1709, then that is the well-nigh likely scenario . . .
Of you lot want to post screenshots you lot can practise that here or upload them to the deject (DropBox,OneDrive . . .etc.) and post a link here and I will take a look for you lot . . .
